A royal wedding street party applied for by residents in Witham, Essex, has been declined by Essex county council. They ruled that it cannot be done because the road is on a bus route. They were seeking permission to close their street on the 29th of April in celebration of Prince William and Kate Middleton's big day

Priti Patel, local MP, has described council officials as ''bureaucratic killjoys".
