Royal Wedding Gown Designer~ Sophie Cranston's Libelula

I had vowed never again to get involved in this royal wedding gown designer kerfuffle, especially after the major media obsession over Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen being the one, only to learn it was a mere speculation.Sarah Burton had to vehemently deny any knowledge of such an arrangement to finally calm the media frenzy. What are we like?

However, today's possible contender as reported in The Daily Mail, has totally blown this personal vow of mine out of the water and here's the reason why. Her name is Sophie Cranston owner of Libelula. This represents hope for every mummy that still wants to work and pursue a dream that can be suitably fitted around her children. Society has no entertainment for such fantasies, so when I hear the success story of a mother with strong routes in the fashion industry daring to go solo from inspiration born out of studying Flamenco and Spanish in Andalucia, I continue to stand firm in the hope that AandR party UK will someday lead to something. The name Libelula means dragonfly in Spanish and Sophie has her studios in South London.

Libelula wedding gowns take up to 4 to8 weeks, which I consider beyond reasonable with prices ranging from £400 to £800. I actually rang one of her agents to confirm, as I thought for a bespoke wedding gown with custom chosen fabric, by a notable fashion professional with CV boasting Saville Row and Bellville Sassoon amongst others, this was indeed a bargain. Over the years I have learned that the most beautiful dresses have certain things in common, a flattering shape, luxurious fabric, vibrant pints and a timeless look. Well that sums up Sophie Cranston's designs and our austeritity chic mantra here at AandR party UK. So bravo Kate Middleton if you chose Libelula! It means you are taking the recession seriously without compromising on style! For more on Libelula wedding gowns go here!
