Interview with the Couture Milliner Emma Brown

Emma and I were meant to have met up sometime last year for an interview on her journey as an up-and-coming Couture Milliner, but for some reason that never materialised. So we finally decide on a date for a catch up on her millinery business venture at the lovely Cappuccino in West London and to my delight she promptly shows up.

Emma trained at the prestigious London College of Fashion and has also attended classes with Rose Cory, Milliner to the late Queen Mother. Her head pieces are made for a lady that is confident, sassy, feminine and stands out in the crowd. The craftsmanship is very labour intensive with fabric and lace of the finest quality. Every headpiece is made to order, individually designed and handmade personally by Emma.

She has been doing a lot of behind the scenes work and has just shot her 2013 Spring Summer collection in February ahead of its launch in two weeks. I look through the editorial shots and they are breathtaking: vibrant colours, intricate fabrics, laces and vintage jewellery all made into fascinating fascinators.

She further tells me that her online store also featuring vintage jewellery is set to go live in a fortnight. So this literally means Emma’s fascinators and vintage jewellery are pretty much  going to be accessible to every woman that loves to look fabulous.

It was important for me to understand the production process to justify the cost of her gorgeous fascinators starting from £175. Her clients are happy to pay such a price because they are guaranteed exclusivity .

Emma explains: "Women spend a lot of money on hair and shoes and forget to finish off the look with a stunning headpiece which is more visible."

Emma explains that she draws inspiration from the 1950s and the Great Gatsby period circa 1920 .She offers a bespoke millinery consultation for brides to be, mother of the bride, wedding guests and can design a fascinator tailored to the specific client's taste and style all fused into her sophisticated and timeless millinery designs. Her approach is extremely consultative  with lots of discussions around swatches, accessories among others.

So if you have a glamorous event to attend, weddings, Henley Regattas, christenings, social parties, religious ceremonies, red carpet events, Ascot etc and you are confident sassy and well groomed, you need to treat yourself to one or more of Emma Brown Couture's millinery delights. To learn more about Emma and Emma Brown Couture , go  HERE !!!!!
